TNABA is excited to offer our very first Adaptive Sports Camp, TOTALLY FREE of charge, thanks to the generous support from our three community partners, The Predators Foundation, the TN School for The Blind, and the NFB of TN. This year’s inaugural camp will primarily teach the fundamentals of the premier team sport for those living with vision loss, Goalball, however we will also feature a few other sports and recreational activities. Camp VIVA is founded on the same simple principles as the TNABA’s mission, which is to provide the opportunity for inclusive activities for the entire family/community, no matter their ability and skill levels. What makes Camp VIVA so unique is the empowering learning peer on peer mentoring environment. That’s right, camp attendees will interact and learn from a wide range of successful adult and youth TNABA athletes, that already choose not to let blindness keep them from living life to its fullest, teaching much more than rules, techniques, and strategies on the court, rather life lessons off the playing field as well! VIVA means “to live”, and that is exactly what we want to instill throughout this three day camp, far impacting lives past the camps duration.
Camp VIVA will be held on the beautiful campus of the TN School for the Blind, 115 Stewarts Ferry Pike, Nashville TN 37214, from Friday December 16th thru Sunday December 18th. Registration will begin at 5 pm on Friday, and pickup on Sunday will be at 4pm.
This unique camp is open to any middle Tn visual impaired youth, ages 10 – 18 years old, and their sighted siblings within the same age level.
